We can all agree that an Italian explorer named Christopher Columbus set sail from Spain to discover the New World over 400 years ago. In 1492 that objective was established and for that we celebrate his journey by remembering him on Monday October 9. In New York the Columbus Day parade has become one of the city’s largest public celebrations, widely considered to be the world’s largest celebration of Italian-American culture. This year the parade will be led by Grand Marshal Leonard Riggio, Chairman of Barnes & Noble., and will take place down Fifth Avenue.
